Environmental Peacebuilding Training Kicks Off in Geneva

29.09.2025 Education and Training
The Law, Policy & Science in Environmental Peacebuilding Training has started today in Geneva, running from 29 September to 3 October 2025. This one-week intensive programme gathers practitioners from around the world to examine how natural resources and the environment can move from being drivers of conflict to becoming catalysts for peace.

Led by international experts, the training combines lectures, case studies, and interactive exchanges. Key interventions include:
🔹 Mara Tignino and Mark Zeitoun, Geneva Water Hub
🔹 Vasilka Sancin, University of Ljubljana & the European Court of Human Rights
🔹 Carl Bruch, Environmental Law Institute

We are proud to welcome a diverse group of participants, such as:
🔹Taiwo Peter Adewumi (Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps, disaster risk reduction)
🔹Lydia Ayikoru (Oxfam Uganda, refugee engagement & protection)
🔹Fayrouz Eldabbagh (International Water Management Institute – MENA, water governance & policy coherence)

…together with many other inspiring professionals from Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. They bring perspectives spanning law enforcement, diplomacy, humanitarian response, academia, and grassroots advocacy — enriching the dialogue on how environmental peacebuilding strengthens resilience worldwide.

Organised by the Geneva Water Hub, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
