17th European Youth Parliament for Water: The Geneva Water Hub Engages with the Next Generation of Water Leaders
On 24 and 25 September, our colleague Quentin Parent, Project Manager at the Geneva Water Hub, was in Strasbourg to take part in the training week of the 17th European Youth Parliament for Water (EYPW17), organised by the International Secretariat for Water – Solidarité Eau Europe (ISW-SEE) with the involvement of the Collectivité européenne d'Alsace.
Bringing together 60 young delegates from across Europe and beyond, this edition was held in parallel with the Rhine Water Assises (Assises Rhénanes de l'Eau), offering a unique space for dialogue between engaged youth and regional decision-makers on transboundary water governance.
24 September — Water as a driver of cooperation and social cohesion
Quentin took the floor to share the experience of the Geneva Water Hub, presenting:
- The Hub's work at the nexus of Water, Cooperation and Peace;
- Our activities on water and social cohesion in West Africa and the Sahel, where the resource is used as a lever for dialogue in fragile and refugee contexts.
He then facilitated an immersive session of the River Basin Game, a simulation tool, with a group of 23 delegates. Through this hands-on exercise, participants experienced first-hand the challenges of negotiation between upstream and downstream stakeholders around a shared resource.
25 September — Podcast recording and parliamentary immersion
Quentin took part in the recording of an episode of the "Drop of Change" podcast, produced by the ISW-SEE, before attending several sessions of the newly constituted Parliament following the EYPW Board elections.
