From research to action in water diplomacy

How can research more effectively inform policy and diplomatic practice on shared waters?
The Geneva Water Hub, in collaboration with the University of Geneva, is pleased to host a half-day seminar presenting the 2025 Science Policy Incubator (SPI) Grants – Edition 2 grantees.
The SPI Grants support early-career researchers in translating doctoral research into actionable science-policy approaches for water diplomacy. This year’s grantees will present their work:
- Lauren Smith – Emotions and Gender in Water Stewardship, Management and Diplomacy
- Maria Nelago Kanyama – Ethical AI and Blockchain for Water Diplomacy
The seminar will also feature experts from institutions active at the science–policy–diplomacy interface, including the Geneva Science-Policy Interface, UN Environment Programme, IUCN, and the UNECE Water Convention.
A timely discussion on how interdisciplinary research and emerging technologies can strengthen cooperation and trust over shared waters.
