Update on Geneva’s contribution to the 2026 UN Water Conference
At the 42nd UN-Water Meeting held in Geneva on 30 September 2025, the Geneva Water Hub joined UN agencies, Member States, and partners to advance preparations for the upcoming 2026 UN Water Conference.
During the Member States briefing, Ambassador Jamal Al-Musharakh, Permanent Representative of the UAE Mission in Geneva, reaffirmed his country’s commitment as co-host of the Conference, underlining that water is essential for peace and sustainable development. He also recognized the unique role of International Geneva in driving the global water agenda and fostering collaboration toward solutions to water scarcity.
Through its sustained engagement within UN-Water and its advocacy for water as a vector for peace, the Geneva Water Hub continues to contribute to this collective vision — positioning Geneva as a hub where diplomacy, law, and science converge to leverage water’s role to provide effective solutions and turn water into a tool for peace and multilateral action.
