On 14 July 2026, from 11:00 to 12:30, the Geneva Water Hub, in partnership with Pôle Eau Dakar and TRENDS Research & Advisory, will convene a high-level side event at the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the United Nations in New York, on the margins of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2026).

The event will bring together Member States, the UN system, research institutions, and partners to explore how water governance, cooperation, and diplomacy can advance peace, resilience, and sustainable development.

Highlights include:

  • Welcoming remarks by H.E. Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Official launch of the policy brief "Flowing Towards Peace – Recommendations ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference"

The event is hosted by the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the United Nations, and is made possible with the kind support of the Permanent Missions of Switzerland and Slovenia to the United Nations in New York.
