During the 10th meeting of the Group of Friends on Water and Peace on 3 October 2019 in Geneva, it was decided to release a joint statement during the Budapest Water Summit - Prevening Water Crisis (Budapest, 15-17 October 2019). It was delivered during the Geneva Water Hub event and is available below.

The honourable Mr. Sérigne MBaye Thiam, Minister for Water and Sanitation of the Republic of Senegal, had the honour of adressing the audience in the name of his country with the following statement:

Mr. Abdelaaziz Ameziane, General Engineer at the Water Department of the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Water Logistic and member of the Global High-Level Panel on Water and Peace, had the honour of adressing the audience for the launch of the arabic edition of the "A Matter of Survival" report with the following statement:

The engagement of the Geneva Water Hub at the Budapest Water Summit consistes in two events.

  • A closed session alowing the panelists to take stock of the follow up activities after the Global High-Level Panel on Water and Peace recommendations.
  • A public side event aiming to brief the public on the main outcomes of the closed morning session and to officially launch the Global Observatory on Water and Peace as well as the newest version of the "A Matter of Survival" report in Arabic.
